Another football season has come and gone; and while the Los Angeles Rams are the new champions of the NFL, it is clear Marvel will extend its current streak and remain the Box Office challenge. That’s right! Early on into last night’s broadcast, the latest Marvel sure-to-be-Box-Office-smash “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” unleashed its latest trailer. One word: wowza.
Coming off the heels of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and its unprecedented success during the pandemic, “Strange 2” continues the tales of Dr. Strange and the multi-verse—as well as our first look back at Wanda following the events of ”WandaVision.” The sequel looks sure to be destined to pack a mighty punch—not only in terms of cinematic scope, but also with its heavily rumored cameos and cast members.
Big Expectations and Surprises
With original “Spider-Man” trilogy director Sam Raimi at the helm, you can no doubt expect a healthy serving of horror influenced humor as well as some crazy, mind-bending multiversal action. But here’s where things get completely wild. And where Marvel fanatics far and wide may in fact self-combust from excitement. There is a quick moment with a voiceover that sounds wonderfully familiar speaks, indicating it may be time to inform Dr. Strange of something. And that voice sounds remarkably similar to Patrick Stewart, potentially reprising his role as Professor X from the “X-Men” series.
What really compounds the excitement with his appearance is that it opens up the possibility of so many more rumors of cameos and appearances potentially coming to fruition. Some to mention: more appearances of Spider-Men, Magneto, Mr. Fantastic, Vision, Loki, Wolverine…and a variant Tony Stark played by Tom Cruise. The possibilities are seemingly as endless as the multiverse is mystifying.
Marvel fans can expect to have their expectations exceeded in a BIG way.
Make no mistake, the stakes are higher than ever here; but if Marvel has proved anything, it’s that they can weave complex narratives inside and out of any string of films. They are the cinematic equivalent of throwing it against the wall and seeing what sticks. And luckily for Marvel fans, most of what sticks tends to be awesome. Come May 6, 2022, fans can expect to have their latest Marvel expectations exceeded in a big way. Thanos could snap away half of the population and this will still be another massive success for Marvel Studios.
