July 4th may have come and gone, but summer movies are here to stay. There’s no more evidence of this than the upcoming Pioneertown International Film Festival, slated for the last week of August, to take place in Pioneertown, California USA. 

The festival, in its 1st edition, will be a unique 3-day immersive experience that will celebrated the history of Pioneertown as well as the Western movie genre and independent cinema. Pioneertown International Film Festival (PIFF) will take place from August 27-29th, announce its founders, award-winning filmmakers Julian T. Pinder and Mike Bruce. 

Additionally, PIFF takes place just northwest of Joshua Tree, originally built by Roy Rogers and Gene Autry in the 1940s as an Old West movie set.

Highlights

PIFF promises to be a unique, immersive experience. As such, Pinder and Bruce are pleased to announce its lineup, which has unique films set around a Western motif. 

A few of the major highlights include “The Last Manhunt,” produced by “Game of Thrones” actor Jason Momoa and directed by Christian Camargo. The film is a Western shot in and around Pioneertown. 

The celebrities and industry professionals for this inaugural year include many filmmakers whose films will showcase or premiere at the festival. These include:

– A performance by The Dandy Warhols.
Joe Dante, director of “The Burbs,” Gremlins,” and Josh Golin, writer of “A History of Violence” recording their podcast “The Movies That Made Me.”
Ron Underwood, Director of “City Slickers” and “Tremors” presents a “30th Anniversary of City Slickers.”
– Director Phil Nibbelink/Producer David Kirshner present an anniversary screening of their Western animation, “An American Tail: Fievel Goes West.”
-Graham Leader presents an anniversary screening of his iconic Outlaw Country documentaries “Heartworn Highways” and “Heartworn Highways Revisited.”

Additionally, the festival’s prestigious Board of Advisors includes such names as Jennifer Nicholson (Actress and daughter of Jack Nicholson), Producer Chris Hanley (“Spring Breakers, “American Psycho”), Actor and Director Christian Camargo (“Dexter”), Musician Mat Devine (Lead Singer of the band Kill Hannah), Actor Raoul Max Trujillo (“Apocalypto”), Melissa Hellman, Actress, Producer and daughter of filmmaker Monte Hellman, top tier entertainment lawyer Jordan M. Browning, and Co-Founders Mike Bruce and Alan Triger.
